It’s a great time of the year to be a kid in our household. We’re right in the thick of Birthday Season (when our four children all celebrate their birthdays within a two-month period), and right smack-bang in the middle of that, it’s Halloween. So when I say great, I mean expensive and busy. But also great.
Now, I know Halloween isn’t for everyone. We have made Halloween a little family tradition and always do something fun around October 31st. I see it as an opportunity to explore a traditional cultural celebration, to dress up, to engage in interesting activities, to see friends, and to make things. If it’s not your thing, no worries, mate (see? I’m still an Aussie).
I love any excuse to make craft with my kids and over the years we’ve made lots of fun things. Materials come from discount stores, variety stores like Kmart and Big W, craft shops like Lincraft, the stationery drawer and the recycling bin.
This year I’ve noticed an absence of Halloween craft “kits” (perhaps I’m just too early and the stores will all bust out the goods in the next week or so), so I’ve thrown together some past creations.

Do you celebrate Halloween? A little or a lot? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this! Have a lovely week everyone. Happy crafting!
These are great ideas… My kids are now too old for these things but we still celebrate Halloween as it’s one of my kids birthdays and he loves the cutout pumpkin. #teamIBOT

Thank you! It’s also one of my sons birthdays so we go to a little extra trouble! Any tips for pumpkin carving?
