Having a little go of the new SPEAK app, it’s free from the Queensland Government and focuses on oral language development and skills for kids in early childhood. Aimed at parents, it’s broken up into age-appropriate sections for easy navigation and has lots of helpful hints for speaking and listening activities to incorporate into your home life. It would be equally as useful wherever you are on the planet, as oral language skills are very important in early childhood and form the basis of literacy and social skills needed throughout life. Check it out by searching for it in the App Store under Speak.

I'm a mummy of four with a vivid imagination, an obsession with Duplo, and an uncanny ability to assemble flat-pack furniture. I'm also a teacher with a passion for play-based learning and an interest in the Reggio Emilia approach. I love taking Devonshire tea, looking through heritage-listed homes and collecting Royal Albert china. But I also love jumping in muddy puddles, eating jellybeans and riding rollercoasters.
