Retail giant Myer today launched a revolutionary way to shop for the festive season. Myer’s Christmas Giftorium will appear in all 67 of its stores nationwide on 8 November 2014.
And it’s nothing short of incredible.
I was invited to be one of the first to experience this new way to shop. I took along my two eldest, Bean and Bug, and we had a magnificent time checking out all that’s on offer. This morning brought with it a sense of childhood nostalgia, for the days when my mother would take my brother and me to visit Santa in Myer in the early 90s. Such special memories were created, and I can’t describe what a thrill it is to continue this tradition with my own kids.
Myer’s taken a fresh approach to festive season gift buying this year, placing an emphasis on bringing fun and theatre to Christmas. Its focus is on making shopping easy and enjoyable. The Giftorium is a colourful, fun place to be. With its designated shopping sections, it makes selecting a gift very easy. Myer’s 12 Themes of Christmas sections (with quirky titles like Glamour Gran, Techno Freak and The Fashionista) are stocked with specially selected merchandise to suit all sorts of gift recipients!

Giftorium will also offer personalised shopping services.
If you (like me) have trouble selecting gifts, you can enlist the assistance of Giftician, a gift-giving expert, who will work with you (considering interests, age groups and budgets) to help you find the perfect present!
Productitions will also be on hand to show off the marvellous merchandise on offer from leading brands including SodaStream, Mr Men and Little Miss, and Dilmah Teas.

A major focal point for Giftorium is the extensive Myer National Events and Theatre Program, which will be in all stores, on weekends and selected dates from November 8. Opening weekend events include children’s face painting, balloon artists, musical performances, Christmas tree and table decorating demos, character appearances and children’s Christmas book readings. Sign me up for the fun! Santa will also arrive on the opening weekend. How exciting!

Of course, as tradition stands, Myer will still be home to the beautiful Christmas window displays. I’m looking forward to upholding our little family tradition and taking our three littles in for a good look!
New this year is the Giftorium microsite, adding to the convenience, allowing you to book a time with a giftician, or book a time to meet Santa. Although of course, you are most welcome to show up and do these things on your chosen day too!

Christmas is magical for most children. Usually the prospect of taking my three pre-schoolers on a shopping expedition would strike pure fear into my heart. However with the convenience and ease we experienced today I’m eagerly anticipating our next shopping adventure into Myer. And with 68 sleeps to go before the big day, there’s plenty of fun ahead!

Don’t forget, Giftorium opens on 8 November! Happy shopping everyone!
It was amazing wasn’t it?! I can’t wait to get back there and do some more shopping 🙂
